Ships fire more accurately and at a greater potential range when controlled manually. Artillery that is manually controlled can fire at a much greater range than artillery controlled by the A.I, allowing players to immediately start damaging opposing armies at the beginning of a battle. Manual targeting has significant impacts on gameplay.

In Fall of the Samurai, all ships and artillery pieces can be manually controlled by pressing the "H" key, and have their guns fired by pressing the left mouse button. Manual Targeting is a gameplay mechanic first introduced in Fall of the Samurai.
